Tiny Chatty Baby
Tiny Chatty Baby and Tiny Chatty Brother were 'coined as' Twins. They are smaller than the Original Chatty Baby doll. As a child I owned a Chatty Baby, but not the Tiny Chattys, either one.
This is my First Tiny Chatty Baby and she is in such good repair. Her little face is clean and bright, eyes about perfect, and SHE TALKS! She came in the Original Clothing you see her wearing in these photos.

We have other Chatty Doll Videos listed below....more on Chatty Baby as well as Tiny Chattys.
When this Doll arrived to me, I took a brush and brushed her hair. She had NO SMELL! We probably will do very little to nothing to fix up this particular doll. However, if you are looking to repair or restore your own doll, check our other pages here on this website and or have a look at our Videos. And keep scrolling, you never know when I might add another doll, and or Tiny Chatty to our Collection.
We did do an unboxing video when she arrived:
We have other Vintage Doll Restoration, Cleaning, Fixing, DIY Videos listed below. Please have a look.
CLEANING YOUR CHATTY DOLLS
I am often AMAZED at the difference a Good Bath/Cleaning can make with these old Chatty Dolls, well?, any dirty dolls.
I have found a few products that really work well cleaning and restoring these dolls. I am big on using GOOP Hand Cleaner (I should get paid for all the commercials I do for this company). I am talking about the Old Type, the Original GOOP in the white tubs. NOT ONLY DOES IT DO A GREAT JOB! It is Non Toxic and Biodegradable! I like items that are kind to our environment....and kind to the plastic that our Vintage Dolls are made from!
I drench my Dolls in GOOP, hair and all, then let them set for at least 2 hours. Many times longer. Set your doll, drenched in GOOP on an old towel, you might see dirt dripping off of it.
I TRY very hard NOT to get the speaker area too wet. But. By accident I did have a Chatty Cathy after cleaning that started talking again...AGAIN I say, try very hard not to get the Speaker Area of your Doll wet.
Another really great product is a Magic Eraser. I often shake my head in disbelief at what spots and makers and other stains these sponges will remove from the Doll.
I also use a mild shampoo (on the doll's body) and a soft toothbrush. Fingers, Toes, Faces, often really need that good brushing to remove the dirt and grime from these cracks and crevices.
After a good bath, I set my Dolls on a clean towel on the counter to air dry. I place the Doll face down for at least 12 hours. This will drain the eye area as well as the speaker area. After that, I set the doll up. Then I lay it on it's back. I usually leave the Doll to dry for at least 24 hours, usually 48 hours.

HAIR CARE
CHATTY BABY, CHARMIN CHATTY, TINY CHATTY BABY, AS WELL AS TINY CHATTY BROTHER's hair is more fragile than Chatty Cathy's hair. The hair on these Dolls is not only finer, it does not seem as well rooted as the Chatty Cathy Dolls.
I have washed and Fabric Softened (in near boiling water) a Charmin Chatty Doll. The hair turned out very well. But. She lost some as I went along.
Proceed with Caution! Wash Gently. Use cool water to wash their hair. Comb Out gently and slowly.

RESTORING TINY CHATTY BABY INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REROOTING HAIR!
We bought a few Tiny Chatty Baby Dolls to Restore. One I bought I plan to ReRoot her hair, Repaint her face, Fix her Talk/Voice Box/Mechanism, Clean and Repair her Original Clothing and more. Visit our page, here on this website named, Rerooting Doll Hair... We plan to have step by step information on how we restore our dolls (there are many ways to do the same steps), as well as videos.
PLEASE NOTE
WARNING: Restoring Vintage Dolls is Fun and Rewarding, <whispers the next part> but it can not only get expensive, you will want more and more Dolls to work on and Display. You have been warned. <laughs and winks>
DISCLAIMER: I have written here on our Website what I have done on my own Dolls and what has worked for me. I have described how I went about each step as best as I could. I will not be held responsible for what you do to the Dolls you are working on. I am not there, I can not see your Dolls or how they are made or the shape they are in. ALL I AM TELLING YOU HERE ON THIS PAGE AND IN OUR VIDEOS, IS WHAT HAS WORKED FOR US.
VIDEOS WE HAVE MADE ON RESTORING AND UNBOXING OUR CHATTY DOLLS
We now own several Chatty Cathy's as well as a few Charmin Chatty, Chatty Babys, and also the Tiny Chattys. Most we at least clean up, but some, in such good repair...just display!
We have found that with Vintage Dolls one of the biggest problems is Mildew Smell. We have found a few ways to get this out.
We hope that our Videos will encourage others to Restore, Clean, and just Appreciate their own Vintage Dolls. We have other Doll Videos up on our Channel too, as well as Animal Training Videos you might get a 'kick' out of.

CHATTY CATHY TALK/VOICE BOX REPAIR
A Funny Thing Happened....when I bought my first Chatty Cathy, the Strawberry Blonde, to restore, her pull string worked ok, not great, once in a while, you could make out what she might be saying. After her clean up, if you pull the string off to the right side and upward, she talks, and pretty well. You CAN understand her. However, if you pull to many times in a row, or if you do not pull to the right and upward, gargle/growling noise. So I am very hopeful repairing her voice will not take too much. We shall see when we split her open. I have ordered an O Ring for the Device, my husband will work on the Record Mechanisms on the Chatty Dolls.
I am AMAZED that almost 60 years after they were first made, not only do some of the Chatty's STILL WORK at all!, But most still have Pull Strings that react to the pull, some slip, but most at least 'growl'. Mattel Toy sure made a STURDY Doll here. I know. I had a Chatty Cathy and a Chatty Baby...and we did NOT baby those Dolls any more than any other dolls!
The contents of this page for Tiny Chatty Baby is still under construction. Please check back later!
